Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can present as a serious obstacle to recovery. Individuals begin avoiding the memory of the traumatic event and the the reminders of the event. This cycle leads to more anxiety, less activity and a smaller life to live. When combined with psychosis, the symptom of PTSD can act as an accelerant.
