What is therapy like with Dr. Brinen?

With over 24 years in mental health, I’ve trained in and taught evidence-based treatments for anxiety, PTSD, and psychosis. I co-developed Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R) and was recently trained in the Feeling Safe Programme for persecutory delusions, a cutting-edge treatment.

I use evidence-based therapies to support recovery from psychosis and PTSD. My approach is active, collaborative, and focused on helping you reduce distress, reconnect with what matters, and move toward your goals. Treatment is grounded in compassion and tailored to your strengths, delivering the gold standard treatments in the most efficient manner.

I like to use Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy as a basic framework to organize other evidence-based treatments, like the feeling safe programme for persecutory threat beliefs and prolonged exposure for PTSD. These are extremely person-centered, humanistic approaches to helping people efficiently recover.
